Creating
a Wedding/Event Décor Floral Budget
Many brides confide to us that the
development of a flower budget is one of the biggest challenges in
the wedding planning process. Most Brides and Grooms have purchased
clothes for special events, shoes, meals, jewelry and travel yet
they have little experience with buying flowers, especially on a
large scale. The overall price of wedding flowers has numerous components
but the major elements are:
The varieties
of flowers selected. The more common and in season the
flowers, the lower the price. The more exotic, fragile and/or
limited the availability, the higher the price.
The quantities
of flowers needed overall. The larger your wedding party
(Bridesmaids, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc…)
and/or guests attending (for table centerpieces) the more flowers
you will need.
The amount of
specific flowers (by variety and quantity) the Bride requires. For
example, you will often be able to garner a lower price by
selecting a general category of flower – i.e. dark red
roses – instead of requiring your florist to guarantee ‘Black
Magic’ roses. The effect will be very similar, literally
imperceptible in the photographs.
The amount of
time and skill the various designs take to create. Simple
designs require less time while more elaborate compositions
or those with exquisite details will take significantly longer
to create.
Service and convenience. Petal
Creations is a full service design studio and each level of service
will be priced separately. |
How
do we determine pricing?
Each event for Petal Creations is
special and no two events are exactly alike. We meet with clients
and go through the design process—pouring through our portfolio
and extensive library of design books to create an ambience unique
to the client’s desires. During the initial meeting, we listen
and exchange ideas with our clients, present different styles,
colors, and themes. It is important to remember that there are
several variables which comprises pricing - including seasonality,
quantity, size of an event, number of guests, design time, type
of flowers, containers, location, and props to name just a few.
A formal proposal is written after the initial consultation.
We recommend clients contact us at least 6-12
months in advance. June, July, August and the most popular holiday
weekends (Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day) get filled
the soonest. Dates are booked on a first come, first served basis,
secured with a $500 non-refundable retainer and a signed contract.
Retainer is non-refundable and is applied towards the final balance.
